Audition: Christmas in July

VUTC are proud to announce their first audition for 2015 will kick off on Wednesday, the 11th of March! The one-act play is titled Christmas in July, and features a dysfunctional family dinner celebrating a non-existent holiday.

The auditions will be held at 6:30pm in room E100, which is on Level 1 of Building E at Victoria University’s Footscray Park campus. All Victoria University students are welcome to attend. The format of the audition is a cold reading from selected scenes in the script. Actors are not required to bring any rehearsed material.

To be successful in your audition you must be available from the 27th of April to the 2nd of May inclusive, for dress/tech rehearsals and performances. These dates cannot be changed.


HELEN, mother, strict Catholic, has very strong opinions, generally disapproving

ARTHUR, father, quiet, an alcoholic

CRAIG, 30, eldest child and only son, gay

ALICE, 27, controlling, obsessive, recovering addict

GRACE, 23, floaty, always seems to be on another planet, the ‘hippie’ of the family

ROSE, 20, the ‘good girl’, in her second year of medicine, Kate’s twin

KATE, 20, the wild child, brash and outspoken, Rose’s twin

HARIETT, 17, the baby of the family, high school student, not the brightest button

GREG, runs the post office, Helen’s lover.
